Netflix must sees

This article will be very similar to the former. But this time I’m sure it’s going to be for a bigger audience! Netflix, the site where you, without a doubt, have spend many of your time.

I myself also am a big Netflix user, which is why I will list up some of my favorite series and movies.

Pretty Little Liars; it’s been a while since the last season aired but if you haven’t seen it yet you definitely should! I have to admit that the first season can be kind of boring but it contains a lot of important information. I know that some people really don’t like this show but I am definitely part of the big fan club!

• Next up, Teen Wolf! Yes I am starting with the basics here and I don’t really watch very original series but this show is great. Honestly it’s been a long time since I’ve watched this and I have no idea where I last ended it but I sure do recommend it.

• Prepare, the next show is also awfully basic but also awfully good! Orange is the New Black (ofcourse). I think ever that you either hate or love this show but I really like it. Don’t ask me why but I still haven’t seen the last three episodes for some reason😂

• The show that I am currently watching is Once Upon A Time, right now I’ve made it to season 4 and ofcourse I’m addicted…

Sherlock is also amazing, every season has only 3 episodes but they’re all one and a half hour long! Don’t hate me but I honestly think Benedict Cumberbatch is the greatest Sherlock ever (sorry Robert Downey Jr.)

• When Friends came out on the Belgian Netflix, almost everyone I knew started watching it immediately. I have stranded at episode 9 months ago because I was watching Full House while the rest of Belgium was watching Friends😬 Full House is honestly one of the greatest shows I’ve ever watched and I wish they had made more seasons back then. Right after finishing Full House I started watching Fuller House which they hopefully will continue!

• I don’t necessarily think the following show is gòòd, but for some reason I keep watching it. Shadowhunters… It’s a lot more similar to the book compared to the movie but the movie was 100 times better.

• “Gossip Girl here! Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite”. Ofcourse this had to be in here, I already know who Gossip Girl is but I only have watched three seasons… What can I say, spoilers don’t bother me…

Riverdale! I almost forgot about this one but I can not wait until the next season airs! If you haven’t seen it yet, start now because it’s amazing!

The Good Place is a hilarious show and I am obsessed with it! It’s so absurd yet so fun to watch.

Clueless, a classic that I can see over and over again. I am still waiting for that clothing computer app to appear on my laptop.

It’s a Boy Girl Thing, a movie that I’ve watched a thousand times and I somehow never get sick of it. You may already be noticing that I watch every dumb Netflix movie that exists so if you don’t like those, you may not like any of the following…

The Kissing Booth is the on exception on what I said before. I’m sure you’ve heard of it because everyone loves it! Please watch this movie if you haven’t already!!!

The Little Rascals, very old but I loved watching it a lot! I don’t know how they managed to work with all those kids but the movie makers sure did a great job on this one.

The Lovely Bones: for some reason I can’t get anyone to watch this with me because it’s rated as scifi-horror… But really it’s just extremely confusing and somehow magnifying to watch. I’ve seen it two times now and I have to say I didn’t get the movie AT ALL when I was watching the first time.

She’s the Man and Sydney White, these movies both star Amanda Bynes and kind off have the same message in them. You probably know them but maybe you don’t, anyway Amanda did a great job in both of these and I love them.

Anastasia, how could I not mention this one?! Ofcourse since Anastasia The Musical came out I have been more obsessed with it than I was before. I can’t believe this is NOT a Disney movie… Everyone thought so for some reason and I don’t know why because it really doesn’t say so anywhere.

Ofcourse there are many other Netflix movies that I think everyone should watch, but that would make this post a tad too long so I’m going to leave it up to you☺️

Enjoy your summer❤️

Lots of love, M.

Books, books, books

Summer is here! Throughout the year I don’t like reading, mostly because the books I have to read for school aren’t what I would want to read. And then summer comes and suddenly I read three books a week.

I love reading on a holiday and throughout the year I found some favorites. Most of them are very basic and you’ve probably heard of them but that doesn’t mean they’re not good.

I like to read series like Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games, … Not original AT ALL but there’s something about them. I am still sad that they didn’t continue the Mortal Instruments movies but the series are pretty much an exact copy of the books so I guess that’s good as well 😂 Also I can’t believe how long it’s been since the last Hunger Games movie came out!

Two years ago I discovered two books that I can recommend to anyone who asks about some good books, We Were Liars by E. Lockhart and Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. These books are just amazing and I love them a lot.

Now I don’t have any inspiration left, so my best friend (the true book worm) is taking over, she will just list things up:

⁃ The books of Sophie Kinsella. My not so perfect life, I’ve got your number and Can you keep a secret are a couple of examples of her collection of books. Reading her books brings you into a world of swooning, handsome gentlemen, awkward recognisable encounters with a touch a humor here and there. The perfect books to read on a hot summer day at the beach an to completely unwind.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch is surely one to recommend too. It takes you to the smoldering, romantic Tuscany in Italy where you meet the young italian Lorenzo, who helps Lina to find her father. Throw in a secret diary from her deceased mother, a secret lover and the delicious gelato and you have the perfect mix for a heartwarming book who swoops you off your feet.

A very unique book, because of the way it was written, is Lobsters by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison. As you can see it is written by two writers, Tom and Lucy. Tom has written the parts of the character Sam and Lucy has written the parts of the character Hannah. The beautiful thing about this is that even that this is written by two persons, you don’t notice this. It perfectly blends together.

The classics Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre are of course two the recomend too! Altough the two were written in the 19th century, you do notice in the way these characters behave and the language that is used, it’s still a very good read. Of course, when you have read them and you tell your english teacher you might score a few points!

My favourite book of all time is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It’s a book that takes you onto a rollercoaster of tears of pain, laughter and heartbreak. It’s beautifully written from a quite surprising point of view, the point of view of death. It is situated during World War 2 in Nazi-Germany, we follow the life of a little girl, who just lost her brother and is adopted by the lovely family Hubermann, trough the eyes of death. We see Germany during the war from another point of view, that makes you realise that not everything is as black and white as it seems. This is truly a book you must read.

I am a big fan of history and all that has to do with art and cultural society. Dan Brown uses a lot of history, art, intriguing facts that are always based on true facts and he somehow molds it all together in a heartracing, captivating and adventurous journey that his character Robert Langdon experiences. His latest book, Origin, is situated in the beautiful city of Spain, Barcelona, where Robert goes to an event from his dear friend Edmond Kirsch. In a spur of events, something happens to his friend and the discovery that Edmond made is threatened to be gone for good. Robert goes on another adventure, along with Ambra Vidal, to save his friends discovery.

Last but not least we have the book Medici by Matteo Strukol, it tells the story of the powerful Medici family of Florence. Get lost in a dark, powerful world of art and mystery. Murder, bertrayal and deathly powergames are just as common as water and food. This is surely a good book for readers who love a little bit of history weaven into the story and of course the powergames played by handsome, Italian men.

Have fun reading!

Lots of love, M. (and E😬)

The last week of high school🎓

I can proudly say that last week I graduated. I can not tell you how happy I am and the long awaited summer has finally begun.

I had my last exam on Thursday June 21nd, after that I went to my best friend and together we went to a party to celebrate a friends’ 18th birthday.

Saturday June 23d was my prom! I bought my dress and shoes months ago and it was so nice to finally get to wear them. I did learn that heels are not my type of shoes… My toes hurt for days🙃 Ofcourse our prom wasn’t as big of a deal as it would be in America but we sure had a lot of fun!

Sunday was a pretty easy going day, I didn’t have to work and we paid a visit to my grandparents. I was freaking out because in 24h I would know if I was going to graduate or not…

Monday, June 24th was the big day. At 7 P.M. I had to be at school to get my results. Before that I helped a friend get ready for her prom, which kind of calmed my mind. LUCKILY I got the news that I made it and I was happier than you possibly could imagine

The next two days I just had some relaxed days with friends; we went to the park, went out for some drinks etc. Just some celebrating basically☺️

Thursday was a day I had been looking forward to for very long… my official graduation! Because I was in the organisation team and I had to sing I spent a lot of time at school that day but I had a lot of fun. In the morning we got our diplomas (I know that at most schools they give those during the graduation but we got our report cards then). We took pictures with our hats and gowns and practiced the entire ceremony. In the evening we took pictures (again) and did the ceremony. After that we had some drinks and food and talked with our teachers… all together it was an amazing night! On all the videos from that night it is clear as day that I was overly excited to graduate😂

Friday was the last day that I had to go to school. Not really as a student because I was already graduated, but we did a celebration with the 5th year. I had to sing again and we stepped outside of the school one last FINAL time👩🏼‍🎓

Now I’m off to a new adventure, but first 3 months of vacation! Congratulations to everyone who graduated and for the ones who are going to be seniors, good luck!

Lots of love, M.
